The roads to get there are going to be very very rough and tight as Nusa Penida isn't quite ready for mass tourism. Our driver was an absolute legend and a very kind person, despite the roads being ridiculously cramped and crowded we never once felt unsafe.
How to get to from Bali Airport to Nusa Dua. If you want to get from Bali airport to Nusa Dua expect to pay around 100K IDR if you use Grab, Go Jek or even Blue Bird Taxi. It’s not an exact amount. Unless of course you expect the driver to drive from Ubud to Padangbai, drive onto the big RORO at 10am, get to Sampalan around 11am, drive to Diamond beach, wave at the beach, turn around,drive back to Sampalan and get the 1300 ferry back to Padangbai. Nusa Penida Island is a magical place, and just about every part of it will leave you awestruck. It’s just that breathtaking. So, when you visit Ubud, don’t miss the island that’s just a 30-minute boat ride away from Sanur Harbor and geared toward the adventurous traveler. Crystal Bay is only one part of it.
Ubud is located 38km north of the airport, and it takes 1-2 hours (depending on the traffic) to reach the center of town. To get to Ubud, you could take a taxi, connecting bus, or private transfer. With that said, the easiest and fastest way to get to Ubud from Denpasar airport is with a private transfer.
Re: Nusa Penida to Denpasar Airport. Best to stay in Bali the night before. Occassionally the boats to Bali are delayed due to bad weather and sea conditions. There are some good cheap hotels close to the airport, Tuban, is the area that you need to search for rooms. Many will have a free airport shuttle service also.
